Filming gay intimate scenes new experience for Radcliffe

Los Angeles, Jan 21 (IANS): Actor Daniel Radcliffe, who plays late beat poet Allen Ginsberg in his new film "Kill Your Darlings", says filming gay sex scenes for the movie was something new.

The film premiered Friday at Sundance Film Festival.

In the film, he meets fellow writers William Burroughs (played by Ben Foster) and Jack Kerouac (Jack Houston) at college following a murder.

Radcliffe said he didn't have time to dwell on nerves when filming intimate scenes as part of his portrayal of the gay writer.

"It was something new. But you know what, we shot that whole scene in maybe an hour and a half so it was incredibly fast-paced. I didn't really have time to stop to think and worry about it," he told eonline.com.

"Director John Krokidas was very helpful in furnishing me with a lot of graphic detail of what I would be experiencing at the various stages," he added.

The 23-year-old said it helped that Krokidas selected a friend for the role of the sailor, who sleeps with Ginsberg.

"We were able to hang out a little bit on set and get to know each other a little bit, which I think is important when you're doing a scene so intimate. You have to feel like you're both in it together," he said.
