Mangalore, Mar 2: A fun outing of friends turned tragic here on Saturday March 2 after one of them drowned in the waters of Adyapady dam at Vamanjoor.

The deceased has been identified as Nihal Bangera, son of Keshava and Ratna Bangera, and resident of Barke. He was a first year BBM student of SDM College in the city.

It is said that after exams got over on Saturday, Nihal and his friends decided to celebrate with an outing to Adyapady dam. Accordingly, he and three others left for the dam in two bikes and went swimming.

However, Nihal was caught in the currents and was washed away. Efforts to rescue him went in vain.

Kavoor police rushed to the spot and with the help of the locals, the body was fished out of the water.

The body was later shifted to Wenlock.

Kavoor police have registered a case.

Nihal, may your soul RIP and give comfort to your parents, friends and families at this time of sorrows. Fun turned into tragedy. It is very dangerous to go swimming when there are currents. Even an expert swimmer cannot avoid it.

Sad news. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.
We read so many news, still young boys do not care. Never go and swim where there is current. You cannot come up. May be he thought he can manage, but no way. There should be a red flag where there is current.
