Quito (Ecuador), Jun 14 (IANS): The Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) will file a complaint with world body FIFA against Paraguayan referee Enrique Caceres over his arbitration in Tuesday's 2014 World Cup South American qualifier.
This was announced by FEF President Luis Chiriboga after a board meeting to discuss the referee's penalty decision, reports Xinhua.
"We will prepare the evidence for a complaint and present it to FIFA," said Chiriboga.
The FEF has questioned Caceres's decision of not sanctioning three alleged penalties to Ecuador, one by Joao Rojas and two by Felipe Caicedo, during the elimination match with Argentina, which tied 1-1.
The result left Argentina on top of the nine-team South American zone qualifiers with 26 points from 13 games, while Ecuador are third in the standings with 21 points after 12 games.
