Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jun 29: On the night of Thursday June 27, thieves broke open the locks of Kamakshi Creation Video Digital Lab at Tokkottu Junction near here, and took away various items including video camera and computer spare parts worth about five lac rupees. The lab is owned by Prasad Suvarna.

Three large-sized video cameras, two small video cameras, and computer hard disks were found missing from the lab. The manner in which the theft has been committed gives clear indication that people well-versed with the functioning of the lab were involved with this theft.

After passing through the shutter, one has to move through a glass door to reach inside the lab. Even when this door is locked from outside, it can be opened by pushing a button found inside. The thieves have broken open the glass door and entered inside by pushing this button. Out of the six cameras found inside the lab, they have left behind one camera, which had developed snags of late. All these things point to the involvement of known people.

The stolen hard disks contained video tapes of 20 marriage functions. The thieves also took away five marriage video DVDs which were ready to be transferred to computers. At the same time, they have not touched any of the scores of used DVDs heaped inside the lab. It is clear the thieves knew the lab well, and their purpose was to inflict heavy loss on the concern.

A case stands registered in Ullal police station in this connection. Sniffer dogs and finger print experts were summoned to assist the investigation.
