Karkala, Nov 1: The new regulations formed under the guidance of ASP Annamalai to regulate traffic in Karkala were brought into effect from Thursday, October 31.

More than twenty sign boards have been fixed to guide drivers from Anantashayana to Salmar Galaxy.  Parking is allowed on the left side of Anantashayana temple till Salmar only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  Similarly, parking is allowed on the right of the temple till Salmar on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  The information is displayed on the sign boards.

Some people had orally agreed to donate seven feet of land on their own accord for widening of the road but had backed out at the last minute. The municipal administration has prohibited parking in such areas citing the narrow road as the reason.  The municipality has also taken to task the land owners who failed to keep their promise and hindered the administration's plans, it is learnt.

The citizens have appreciated the joint operation of the municipal council and the traffic police to solve the problems of bus stand and congested traffic.

Municipal official Gopalakrishna Shetty and police inspector Pramod were part of the operation.

Good job by ASP Annamalai and team. For smooth implementation and as per our CM's recommendation of date, the sign boards must bear the message in Kannada also.
We hope the sign boards do not block a parking space!

Time has come to form Greater Karkala or "Brihad Karkala" by developing infrastructures and businesses outside the traditional Salmar to Ananthashayana stretch which has proven stalemate both for business expansion, traffic and even for emergency responders such as police officers, ambulance and fire truck etc. Time for developing surrounding areas and greater planning for future of Karkala.

Wait and watch, you will find vehicles parked right below the sign boards on the NO parking days. Please widen the roads, provide parking where ever possible on the road side, install the road divider to maintain proper 2 way traffic, provide proper pedestrian crossings every 100 meter, let heavy vehicles use outer roads

What about other days? It is very peculiar idea. One day this side and next day other side ? What is the actual idea and benefit? Please explain in detail.

For people who cannot read English,My suggestion to the traffic police, it would be better if there were sign board written in Tulu, Hindi or Kannada.
