Building collapses in Bangalore: Five including child killed

5 killed in Bangalore building collapse, 2 injured

Updated

Bangalore, Nov 26 (PTI): Five persons were killed and two others injured when a dilapidated house collapsed and brought down some other adjoining ramshackle residential units here today.

Bodies of the victims -- two labourers from Uttar Pradesh, a two-year-old child and two women -- were recovered from under the debris, police and fire officials said. The child was identified as Savita.

The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital.

The house located on a godown collapsed first and four others adjacent to the building, inhabited mostly by labourers, crumbled under its impact, the officials said.

A police official said the building's walls were weak and the heavy downpour a few days ago had made it worse.

Police said a case had been registered against the building owner.

Five brigade personnel were engaged in rescue and relief work, they said.

God, please show some mercy on the deceased. Those who are dead, their souls should RIP & those who are injured, should get well soon.
Poor maintenance also plays a big role in this.

Empathize with the innocent victims!! There have been a spate of newly built building coming down like a pack of cards all over the country!!

This shows the very lax control on quality, use of substandard material, workmanship etc. during construction!!

It is very dangerous to buy apartments from unknown, small, or shady builders as one never knows what will be the life of the building or when it will come crashing down!!
