Karkala: Modi banners likely to cause unrest: Police dept writes to DC

R B Jagadish
Daijiworld Media Network – Karkala (EP)

Karkala, Nov 28: The police department has written a letter to the deputy commissioner expressing its apprehensions against putting up political and other banners in public places. The letter states that the cutouts of Narendra Modi put up by BJP may get damaged due to rain and wind and the matter may get misunderstood by vested interests causing enmity between certain factions.

File Photo

The police said that cutouts of Narendra Modi in Hemmady, Shirur and Manipal can cause misunderstanding between political activists and create tempestuous atmosphere. They have stressed on the need to regulate the number of banners and restrict their display to a day earlier and a day after the programmes. They have suggested to make the concerned liable if the rules are not adhered and if banners are not removed on time. The letter also suggests prohibiting political banners, cutouts and buntings in communally sensitive areas.

The letter states that officials who give permission to banners, cutouts and buntings should send a copy of such permission to the local police station.

Cutouts and banners pertaining to religious gatherings and other programmes should be removed immediately after the programmes, states the letter. Large banners and cutouts in public places without strong poles and tied improperly are likely to cause damage to life and property, inconveniencing people.  The police department has expressed possibility of law and order problems in such circumstances.

Malpe, Kota, Kaup, Karkala, Shirur, Gangolli Kandlour and Kodi are identified as community and politically sensitive areas in the district.  Police circle inspectors in those areas have asked the gram panchayats to get banners, cutouts and buntings removed.

Political banners can be found in Gangolli police station area such as Maravante, Trasi, Gangolli and Noojadi.  A police complaint has been registered regarding a torn banner of Narendra Modi in Haklady.  The gram panchayat had reportedly given permission to keep the banner for three months.

    As someone put it "fear"
    What is there to fear.
Congress goes the straight way to win the election - no fear factor.
    Whereas..
RSS\BJP wants to win the election by
    "HOOK OR CROOK"
There is absolutely no any other way for them to win any election.

Banners & Statues, some adore and some tear, so definitely cause unrest!
But the IMPORTANT thing to note,
due to so many years of Power and no Lokayuktha in Gujarat, there seems to be lot of MONEY with MODI camp of BJP for banners, advertisements and rallies!
So poor will always remain poor and powerless!

All banners, advertisements in public places are cause of accidents and a nuisance to the public eyes.

We in India still display our backwardness when it is election time even in this 21st century.

Govt. should allocate a specific area and time frame for banners after collecting a hefty fee for such activities that will discourage this nuisance eventually.

    Dear Rolphy,

I agree with your points of view, which are not only very philosophical in nature but also exhibits the religious background where you belong to.
I am not against any particular party because these political parties are more interested in winning the position rather than diverting their attention towards common man’s needs.
Whatever the current situation, let there be a good leader to take care of our country.

    Dear Flavian,
Cow dung is a very good cleansing medium it has all the good bacteria that eat up all the bad bacteria. Hopefully it ate up all the bad things in the minds of politicians and holy cleansing was performed during your days.
Now a days Sewage Treatment Operators (STP) add cow dung in the aeration tank to treat the sewage water and reuse it for gardening purpose. People can adopt the same method and cleanse the politicians and reuse them as farmers.

BJP is missing a true bharath ratna Vajpayeeji. With greatest regard to selfless statesman Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who incidentally was the right man in the wrong party, Modi can never match Vajpayeeji. Atal bihari vajpayee was praised by people like nehru, narasimha rao, jyothi basu and many political opponents for his charisma n personality in public life. Vajapayee should have got highest civilian award. He is clean politician and pure heart. Vajapayee asked modi to follow raajdharm in 2002 but advani protected modi !! It is open fact that modi is a polarizing figure and police must take preventive measures to ensure harmony in society.

Please start charging Rs. 1000 for a 1 Sq Mt of banner for a month. If the banner is 20 Sq Mts 20,000 has to be paid to the muncipality. Municipality on the other hand should erect a proper place to display the banners.

It is nothing to do with Modi wave and Modi craze. The local small time so called party workers want to show their name on the banner and every nukkad has a banner now. The people are ready to spend on banner but do not care the poor down ridden brethren. These banners create nuisance when they get tore up by rain and strong winds. The DC should ban all banners of all parties.

This letter is not form the police, but from the Home ministry of scared Congis who cannot digest Modi waves rising. They are using the state machinery for the damage control now. You can remove the banners but cannot stop Modifing India.
