Sullia human sacrifice: Kemar Swamiji urges re-examination of child's body

Mangalore, Nov 29: Kemar Sri Esha Vittaldasa Swamiji on Friday November 29 submitted a memorandum to SP Shantanu Sinha demanding to exhume and re-examine the corpse of one-and-a-half-year-old Sharika who died under mysterious circumstances in Sullia this August.
The memorandum stated that the case had led to speculations that the child was subjected to human sacrifice for the sake of seeking hidden treasure in a forest in Sullia.
"The family is currently living in a state of fear; they hear sounds like people wandering close to the house. Red and green precious stones are said to be found in the area and a racket has been running to make out of these," the memorandum added.
"Cases of a few unnatural deaths in the vicinity have also been reported and hence the police department should look into this matter very seriously. They must reopen the case and conduct a probe into this matter," Kemar Swamiji said, urging another post-mortem of the child's body.
SP Shantanu Sinha assured to respond to the memorandum.
Suspicions of human sacrifice for treasure emerged after Sharika, daughter of Mohandas and Bhavani of Nadugallu was found dead thirteen days after she went missing. Her body was found on the river bed about one kilometer away from their house, with her head and hands chopped off. The parents suspected that the child might have been sacrificed for treasure. A 70-year-old man too was said to have been murdered for the hidden treasure, and altogether about five unnatural deaths were reported.
Soon after the story appeared in the media, another youth, neighbour of Sharika's parents, and who was part of the treasure hunt, went missing mysteriously. Kemar Swamiji had visited the families in the area and urged them to fight against those indulging in crimes in the name of black magic.
