IT professional from Bangalore gang-raped in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 1 (PTI): A 40-year old woman IT professional from Bangalore was allegedly gang-raped at a backwater island resort near Thiruvananthapuram and police are on the lookout for two persons involved in the incident.

The woman had come to the star category resort at Pozhiyur, about 30 km from Thiruvananthapuram, with a group of colleagues as part of an official trip and she was allegedly assaulted by two persons in the early hours on November 28, police said.

According to her complaint with police, two unidentified persons entered her room at around 2.30 am. While one of them restrained her, the other man raped her.

The woman suffered injuries during the assault and was in a traumatised state after the incident. She made a complaint to the police the next evening. Police have registered a case of rape on the basis of the victim's statement. She has left for Bangalore.

Forensic evidence collected from the room had been sent for analysis and phone call details of the guests at the resort at the time of the crime and the staff members were being verified, an Inspector, part of the investigating team, said. The resort is under surveillance and the staff members had been questioned.

CPI(M) leader VS Achuthanandan asked the state government to institute a criminal inquiry into the incident. In a statement on Sunday, he demanded that the owner of the resort also be brought under the ambit of the probe for rendering the premises insecure for women despite the star-category status it holds.

the travesty of anti men indian laws is that , any women can misuse at the of hat. Recently there r some verdicts where verbal statements of victim was enough for prosecution . no medical tests , which is worrying sign and often can b misused . ANY HEALTHY RELATION CAN BECOME RAPE IF RELATIONSHIP SOARS . it just takes a verbal statement . Serious offenses like adultery r not punished , quoting sexual liberation , which r boosting unhealthy relationship and rise in fake cases , also prosecution of innocent men .

While empathizing with the victim and hoping that she will get justice soon!!

I fully agree with your views, gender biased laws are fully taken advantage of in many cases for various reasons though there are many genuine cases too!! Few days back there was a news report that the apex court has said that living in a relationship is not a sin!!

Today, there is a news report that a Lok Adalat settled a family dispute where a second wife (live in partner) be allowed to stay in the same house as the original wife and the females should share the man once in 15 days, difficult to believe!!

All this is sending conflicting signals to a male as he can get trapped by a sly female!!

Someone commented that a duplicate key must have been used or door was forced open.

I am totally lost to accept such ridiculous reasoning. Still she could have screamed or raised alarm by calling for help...and at least next door people would have sensed the troubles.

Anyway, the actual reason will be known only after the culprits are caught.

    What a joke!
You can forget about tourism in Karnataka as long as you have pub attacks, church attacks and moral policing.
Kerala is a tolerant state and tourists have the freedom to do whatever they want without any fear.
Karnataka is permanently scarred because of the bad incidents.

IT professionals get too much of income too early in life that they do not understand what to do and indulge in lavish late night parties, outings, and what not, and when something goes out of hand due to somebody's overindulgence it is easy to cry foul!!! Jai Hind!!

Kerala is God's Own Country ?
Remember the Suryanelli Gang Rape Case, where 35 people raped a 16 year old girl for 40 days and left her half dead on roadside in 1996 in which one Rajya Sabha member was also named as culprit.
Remember the recent case of Actress Swetha Menon who accused a Minister of Sexual abuse in a Boat Race function.

Until and unless the high profile horrible cases like Suryanelli rape case are reopened and all persons involved in it are severely punished in accordance with the present law, there won’t be any end to such ugly crimes. The law enforcing authorities needs to demonstrate that the law of the land is being strictly implemented.

Medical student from Kerala was gangraped in Manipal. Kerala women commission and several ministers met the victim at Manipal Hospital.

A woman Jyothi was attacked in Bangalore ATM kiosk. Kerala CM Omen Chandy met her in hospital.

In both the above incidents, Kerala Govt representatives were in touch with Karnataka Govt.

An honest KANNADIGA officer of the Indian Bureau of Mines Mr. Ibrahim Sharief from Bellary, had gone missing in Bhuvaneshwar, Orissa since last Monday. No Karnataka minister has bothered about it till now. I don't understand why this Karnataka Govt is not bothered about Kannadigas staying outside. There was a program in Suvrana News about this today. The victim's brother is planning to meet CM tomorrow.

Last year a Kannadiga IAS officer was kidnapped by Nexalites in Chattisgadh. But then BJP Govt joined hands with Chattisgarh and brought him back safely.

Can this Govt do something for 40 year old rape victim and get justice?

If you are following the Tejpal case the complaint was filed by the victim after 10 days. When this was pointed out by the accused the judge has said in these cases time is not of essense as the victim is in trauma because of what has happened to her & it takes time considering what perverts like you might say to have the courage to lodge a complaint. So back off & dont insinuate that the woman is lying

During Manipal rape case a group of women from Kerala arrived in Manipal as if to teach Karnataka Police how to catch the rapist. Now, who will go to Kerala from our state and teach their police how to carry on the investigation ? I love Kerala. It is God's own country. My Dear friend from Japan,
You do not seem to have any concern for any of these victims and is using this forum for spreading your own racist views which does not help anyone.
It does not matter which state the victims are from, because these are serious crimes happening nowadays because our justice system is toothless. Even if the criminals are caught what do you think is the maximum punishment they get? A happy jail term at the expense of taxpayers(people like me).
So if we really want these crimes to come down we should have punishments like those in US or Arab countries because of which people will be scared to commit such crimes.
And second we need to enforce these without special preferences for rich and influential.
I'm surprised you are in Japan and still follow pre 1947 beliefs and principles.!!
