Mangalore, Dec 14: 'Kudla Kalamela', an art exhibition displaying works of as many as 120 artists, organized by Karavali Chitrakala Chavadi, was held at Kadri Park here on Saturday December 14.

MCC commissioner Ajith Hegde and registrar of Karnataka Lalita Kala Academy K Sudhindra inaugurated the art expo.

Vishnu Shevgoor, president of Karavali Chitrakala Chavadi (R) welcomed the guests and said that the main aim of organizing the exhibition was to attract Mangaloreans towards art.

"Karavali Chitrakala Chavadi is organising such an art exhibition for the 4th time in Mangalore," he said, adding, "Our main aim is to attract the youngsters and encourage them to take up art as a profession."

Addressing the gathering, Ajith Hegde said, "We are losing our culture day by day. Money cannot bring happiness in our lives. Do that work which suits you and which makes you happy. A rich person has everything but he does not have the kind of happiness that an artist has."

K Sudhindra, registrar of Karnataka Lalita Kala Academy said he was happy to see people observing the paintings and visiting the stalls at the expo.

Chi Su Krishna Shetty, former president, Karnataka Lalita Kala Academy, said, "It is a wonderful moment for everyone. Mangalore is leading in all fields but the only drawback is that people here do not give much preference to art." He urged Mangaloreans to encourage artists more.
