Udupi, Apr 29: In a tragic accident at Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, a young man from Belapu near Padubidri here was killed on Friday April 28.

The young man has been identified as Nazeer Ahmed (22), a resident of Belapu.  He was the son of the late Nasrullah and Jainabi. He had gone abroad after his father Nasrullah had died 3 years ago in Dubai.

Nazeer was to come home on holidays May 5.  He had already booked his ticket.  However, the fate had something in store for him.  His mother and siblings were waiting to welcome him after two years.  But all they got was the news about his tragic death.

Nazeer was an active young man even when he was in his home at Belapu.  He was the secretary of Belapu Badriya Youngmen's Association.

His funeral will be held in Saudi itself, said the family sources.

As reported earlier in these columns a private company bus carrying 38 pilgrims had fallen over a bridge into a ditch at Raheili near Jeddah.  The earlier reports had stated that out of the 28 deceased 7 were Indians and majority of them were from Kerala.  However, the latest and detailed reports confirmed the death of Nasir in the accident.

The bus was on its way to Madinah from Jeddah when the accident occurred in early hours. The pilgrims were going to perform Friday prayers at the holy mosques at Madinah.
