Bhatkal, Dec 22:
Excise department officials and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Saturday December 21 seized over a thousand bottles of Indian-made liquor from Matsygandha Express near Honnavar.

However, the person who was transporting the liquor managed to escape. The police seized 1,296 bottles of liquor, each of 200 ml capacity, altogether valued at Rs 51,840.

The liquor was loaded at Margoa railway station in Goa, where it was manufactured and it is believed it was being transported to Mangalore. It is said that the railway police noticed the bags containing liquor near the door of the train compartment and no one was guarding the bottles.

The TTC of Matsyagandha informed the RPF from Honnavar Railway Station. Excise inspector Anand J D, railway sub-inspector Santosh Gaonkar, Praveen K, Maruthi Madar, Ajesh V K Manjunath, and other railway officials were part of the operation. The liquor bottles were later handed over to the Bhatkal excise department.

Further investigations are on.

Instead of all these rubbish remarks, applaud the work of the excise department for their good work.
If there is spurious spirits in those bottles, this raid has reduced that much health hazard to those who consume these drinks.

Congrats. Be vigilant always to confiscate these unauthorized poisonous spirits from arriving into Karnataka.

Poisonous for those who crosses the limit and it increases the life span of humans if consumption is limited.

Without the help of railway officials cannot transport illegal liquor. For official record shown some quantity..big quantity already taken over by the converned escaped person. May be looks like seized bottles are 'duplicate'. Beware most of liquors manufactuered in margao is of cheap quality and duplicate. Should approach genuine retailers to buy the same. In most of even hotels in the beginning will give original latter on supply duplicate. No doubt fishes which available in margao market is original. Go for it. Jai Ho..
