Mangalore, Dec 26: Minister for health and family welfare U T Khadar, who is also the MLA of Mangalore constituency (Ullal), said that there was no question of protecting the culprits involved in the recent kidnap case at Deralakatte wherein two students were forced into having sex, filmed and blackmailed by a group of eight men.

Addressing reporters at the circuit house here on Thursday December 26, he warned that if there was any complaint from the public that any police officer or personnel dealing with the case was not doing his duty properly, strict action would be taken and the policeman  would not be spared.

"As soon as I got news of this incident, I rang up the ACP and ordered him to take up thorough investigation and stringent steps to maintain law and order in the region. These sort of incidents indeed bring bad names to our district," he said.

Refering to former CM D V Sadananda Gowda's statement on the issue that law and order in the coastal region had worsened under Congress rule and that officials have been unable to discharge their duties efficiently due to political pressure, he said, "Strict legal action has already been taken against the accused, but a few of the opposition leaders, especially the former CM who happens to be from our district has been passing unwanted and false statements in this regard. Please do not bring politics into this matter as the investigation has been carried out very well. By passing such comments, you people (opposition) are exposing your own incompetence," he said.

"We do not want leaders of our district to look like jokers. Hence it is not advisable to bring politics into this matter. We must condemn this issue and not give it a political colour," he added.

"The police department must be strict to the extent that wrongdoers get scared when they hear the name of police. Incidents of moral policing too have been increasing in the district, and the issue will be taken seriously. I have directed the police officers to register a suo moto case if any such incident takes place," he added.

We appreciate Mr.Khader. Police should not hesitate enforce law and order in the state. Nowadays beatings are the best medicine. They should beat in the public then only all will realize what the police beatings means. First of all informs all people in the area about police treatment in advance,i.e.,that there will be beatings for a particular crime. All types of criminals like robbers, rape, murder, etc. should be given tight punishment. Law & order will be maintained automatically.

    Thank God,
we have a MLA like Khader. He has taken up the responsibility of the Home Minister. Other minister/MLA from Mangalore is not to be seen ata all.
Appreciate the actions of Mr. Khader but suggest to take criticism from the opposition is a constructive angle and dont critisize the critic.

We need to be cautious and extra careful with regard to maintaining law order in coastal districts because the people are mostly educated and timely action from police department only desist them from taking law into their own hands.Hope, the local administration will take appropriate right action in this regard. All the best.Thanq.

its a wake up call for Mangalore police. It shows the lack of fear in the law. Police people should have set of informers in each corners to get the ideas whats happening in the city without their knowledge. There is a need for ''Systematic Intelligence system'' in police departments.

    Dear Readers,

Internal and political interference plays the important role in the delay in investigating, rape, murder. What Mr. UT Khader replied for DVS is right. DVS should support for thorough investigation instead he blames political party, which is not right. He is an Indian and should fight for the right instead he brings the political party due to which there is a delay in justice and justice is not given to the right person. I would like to highlight here that DVS only play the role for the next election and not for the justice..Hope all readers will think about it..

It is fitting reply, cordially extended to DVS by hour Hon. Minister U.T.Khadar (Congress are always graceful).
BJP ex Ministers\ MLAs instead of assisting in maintaining law and order, are, for their political gain trying to intimidate criminals to involve more in crimes to destabilize the Government. They have no interest in peoples' welfare. They have been very selfish and anti-people and cannot stomach the development that is taking place under the Congress Govt.
When DVS was in a top position , he also failed to do anything good but definitely contributed bad to the State. He is not fit to comment on the present Government.

Actually Ramanath Rai is supposed to give the official statement as regards this heinous crime, because this horrible news has been broadcast even in BBC and other worldwide TV channels. the name of Mangalore city has become famous (Notorious) all over the world due to this Crime which our Politicians should be ashamed of.

Mr Ashwin Shenoy, its the role and responsibility of the opposition party to highlight the failures of the ruling party and in a democratic opposition party needs to be vigilant and not hand in glove with ruling party. DVS did the right thing with right spirit. How come media which highlighted pub attack is not making this as a big news in NDTV and else where. Oh...it is INC rule ....is that the reason?
