Smoking in trains is banned, but some people still smoke.
Almost all trains I traveled ac or sleeper(Matsyagandha, Garibrath, you can find people smoking in running trains in the passage near the toilets mostly around midnight/early morning. Many are ignorant or just don't care about the safety hazards. KR should post plain clothes rly police for night patrolling which could prevent smokers & also robberies.

Very sad. The time of the fire is 3.30.Am and this is the time when all people get into deep sleep. (Normally thieves prefer this time to do their act). How come fire ed this time?
The fire broke out when the train was at "Kotacheravu railway station". Does it mean the train was stationed at the said station when fire occurred?
Do trains have proper fire alarm system?
Oh! anything is possible. Hope proper investigation takes place.
RIP the departed souls and whoever is responsible for this (if) let them not get any peace anywhere.

RIP to those who lost their lives,
very unfortunate...RPF personnel and TCs should be given basic fire safety trainings. There should be fire extinguishers in every coach and people should know how to use them. As Indians we all should have been taught about fire safety in schools...As a nation we need to build safety culture. My condolences to the families of dead

Very sad incident. We can pray for the poor souls to rest in peace. These days in India so many fire accidents in air condition buses or trains. Railways or buses need more advance smoke and fire detector for all a/c coaches using very early warning smoke detection system. Also features such as sensors to detect to open the doors and emergency exits.

How the AC coach caught fire, the railway should take full responsibility for this incident instead of doing blame game, in some stations like in kurla (LTT) the Mumbai police and railway police torture innocent passengers for carrying perfume calling it flammable material where as in airport CISF dont fine rich passengers and you can carry in luggage.

Smoking maybe one of the reasons. Have noticed a couple of times, people standing on doors / gangway smoking while trains are moving on long destination trains. Govt. should stop / penalize these personnel for smoking in any public transportation / places.

Nowhere is the result of keeping the passenger fare unchanged for decades and neglecting the modernization of Railways for lack of funds.
Probably Some inflammable chemical was being carried unauthorizedly in the compartment with the help of Railway Police & RPF. Most of the times during my journey in Train I have seen the Passage of Compartments in sleeper class too loaded with unauthorized parcels in the presence of Police itself and clocking the way to the toilet.

During the Tenure of Laloo, Mamatha, Nithish and Paswan, they did not raise the railway fare for populist reasons, because of which the Railway is badly starved of funds for modernization plus expansion of new lines since last 15 years. Sufficient funds could not be allotted for upgrading bogies and incorporating security measures. All new BIHARI employees recruited during the Laloos time in Maharashtra and Karnataka are most inefficient. Nowhere is the result to see.

Only populist policies by railways. No importance is given to safety even though many such accidents take place. Ministers like Laloo and Mamta have destroyed the railways.

Very sad incident. Deep condolences to victim's families.

But thing to notice here is that in last 3 months 2-3 such incidents have taken place in different parts of the country. Why railway ministry is not taking action to stop such incidents? The reason for the fire is nothing but the ill maintained train. Now Minister will come and meet the victims in hospital, their families and announce some compensation packages. Later, the incident will be forgotten. Instead, can he find the root cause for the incident and take initiative to not to repeat such mishaps?
