Mangalore, Dec 31: Abhaychandra Jain, minister for fisheries and youth affairs and sports on Tuesday December 31 interacted with the media and outlined the development works being undertaken by the sports ministry.

President of Dakshina Kannada working journalists' union (DKWJU) P B Harish Rai welcomed Abhaychandra Jain.

Addressing the reporters, Jain said, "I never thought I would become a minister for youth affairs. Our chief minister gave me this post and I am very happy to work for it. There were many ministers waiting in the queue to get this post."

He further added, "I am doing my job honestly. After Congress came to power, our chief minister Siddaramaiah proposed many schemes while presenting the budget. Every minister hopes the best for his region. The funds reserved for the development of sports are being used for good causes. With this money we are laying synthetic tracks all over Karnataka. The state has more synthetic tracks than anywhere else in India.

"We are also building a velodrome, which is an arena for track cycling. The government had sanctioned Rs 5 crore for the project, but it was not sufficient. Hence an additional Rs 2 crore has been released and very soon we will start the project," he said. The velodrome is planned to be built in Bijapur.

"In Udupi district too we are in the process of building stadiums. Two years ago the BJP government had laid the foundation stone for a stadium there, but due to technical issues the work has not yet started. So this is also in our to-do list.

"In Alva's College, Moodbidri, we are providing all facilities to athletes, and that is why Alva's is one of the top institutions in India. In addition to this, we are building a youth empowerment centre and indoor stadiums in Alva's campus, for which the government has released Rs 15 crore," he said.

"We are trying our best to give cent percent support to athletes. Mangala stadium here had no proper gym for them to train. We rebuilt the gym. We are thus helping youngsters to shine in future," he added.

"My dream is to build an international cricket stadium in Mangalore. But we are searching for the right place and once we get the land, we will start the work very soon. We have already discussed this matter with the chief minister," Jain said.

Responding to a question on the Mulky incident of Monday December 30 wherein he was alleged to have tried to hit an auto driver when protestors surrounded him, he said "I was just doing my job. People of Mulky region requested to repair the road and I accepted it. But then the auto drivers started shouting slogans. I was ready to argue with them, but I did not hit anyone or fight."

He added "Those men were from BJP, and they said I fought with the auto drivers. If it is my fault I will accept it, but I did not commit any crime. I take pride in the work I am doing."

Srinivas Nayak Indaje, secretary, DKWJU was present.

While eleven players active in cricket ground, thousands become idle watching and wasting thousands of hours.
The need is to look for the opportunity to utilize enormous available hours of enormous academics, which are rapidly produced by various institutions.
The huge volume of fuel is consumed while carrying and moving millions of tons of dead weight (commuters and goods) on wheels.
Why can’t we use the enormous weight on wheels as a pushing force, which can save a considerable volume of fuel?
Why can’t we break a couple of centuries old evolution of automobiles to save a huge volume of fuel, eliminate pollutions, reduce costs and increase the capacities of vehicles to meet the transport demand of the rapidly growing volume of commuters and goods?
Why can’t we produce bicycles which can move families and groups together, instead of manufacturing millions of bicycles just for single riders?
Let us see the achievement of mobile technology and be encouraged to remove the automobile sector from a lengthy evaluation mode to a revolutionary mode for incredible and amazing benefits, by solving their severe problems.

Will Alva's College allow outsiders to use the stadium or charge them for using it. I think the Government should not invest money in any private institutions as they have the habit of using it for themselves and denying the public right to use it.

Youths of Tulunadu are so Timid that they never play Cricket with Hardball but they play only with Tennis Balls, Because of which Tulunadu never produced even a single Test grade cricket player. All those Tuluvas who played for Indian Test side have come up only in Mumbai & Bengaluru.
So, even if a International grade Cricket Statidum is built in Mangalore it should be given only for playing real cricket with Hardball.

During BJPs regime roads were concretised in Mangalore on a very fast phase.

Even during the rainy season, roads were being repaired immediately.

We have in, DK and Udupi District, very good athletes who are good in almost all sports. They were unable to showcase their abilities due to the lack of sport infrastructure in these areas.
If the plan of our Minister AJ to provide such facilities in these twin districts, it will definitely help\encourage our youth to take advantage of that and win laurels for the State and Country.
Let us welcome Minister's decision and keep pressure on him to complete the work as early as possible to keep his promise. This way he cannot forget what he promised.

I would ask the Minister to arrange to publish the detailed progress of this plan where citizen can avail and be d of the progress.
People will then know that you the Minister was not making any empty promise to the people.
They will know then that you are a Minister for the youth welfare.

Did the condition of the road deteriorate once Congress came to power or was it in that state during the early 5 years?

Have a heart and give the new Govt. a chance. I am optimistic your Road in Mulky will be done up soon.

The mess Karnataka was in when the Congress took over, to clear that mess itself will take a couple of years. None of the BJPians complained during that time and that Govt. was happy with the resort and other parties every now and then.

Mr.Jain as a minister has done very minimal to the district. He has failed to meet the basic demands of the locals as it happened in Mulkey. The roads connecting the highway from surrounding villages is in a very bad shape. Even road to Airport, moodabidre etc are also in a very poor shape.Cricket stadium can wait for another term but not essentials like roads.

Poor road means more maintenance/fuel expense.

Roads, water and electricity are basic needs of people. Stadiums we can build later on as well. First get attention to have proper roads, solve the problem of scarcity of water and look into load shedding all the time. Some parts of Karnataka, electricity is just for a few minutes. If ministers don't look into basic needs, then what is the use?

This is the meaningless point by somebody that 'first look for poor and then International stadium. In India, there are more than 20 International stadiums are there,is there all people are rich in that area? or all the areas are covered with infrastructure facility ? Keep it up Mr. Abhayachandra Jai. Carry on... Good luck.

Dear Minister and MLAs , there are plenty of Rooms for improving peoples life in day-today activities. Cricket stadium is required when our people have proper road plans, and safety for pedestrians .we don't have enough water, power ,good sanitation and drainage system . Please look into the basic need of the people rather than have a cricket stadium.bus service is so poor that there is no guarantee that fellow brother or sister will come back home safely. there is no safety or rules and rule and regulation in hand to follow with this private/govt bus owners. Good luck, its your turn next sir before people realize what is happening .
