Bangalore: 'Reluctantly' contesting Lok Sabha polls: Deve Gowda

Bangalore, Jan 18 (DHNS):
In an emotional appeal to strengthen the Janata Dal (Secular) with Lok Sabha elections around the corner, the party national president and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda on Friday said he was “reluctantly” contesting from Hassan for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

The 82-year-old JD(S) leader said he was not at all keen on contesting for an MP seat.

“However, on account of the existing political situation, and for the future of this nation, I am contesting this time. It is also imperative for the survival of the party,” he said. Gowda, who is a five-time MP, will be seeking a sixth time re-election from Hassan for the Lok Sabha elections.

At a convention of all JD(S)  leaders from across the State, Gowda said the JD(S) was fighting for its survival and that it will depend upon the strength which the party leaders will show at the upcoming elections.

He attacked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for having ‘deserted’ the JD(S) which propelled his political career and then making claims of being an Ahinda leader. “The man who ate rice from our party (meaning well benefited) plate is now a big man and speaking against us,” he ridiculed.

Gowda said most of the leaders who have left the JD(S) or those who are in the process of leaving, were supposed to build the party but have completely betrayed it.

The former prime minister slammed both the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and the AICC vice- president Rahul Gandhi for   “making tall claims but having no vision for the country”. Party leader H D Kumaraswamy sent across a message to the people of Karnataka that they should vote for Deve Gowda, who is present in the State, rather than vote for Modi who will be sitting in New Delhi.

“Our call will be ‘Karnataka Ulisi’ (Save Karnataka). None of the two national parties is showing any interest in the development of Karnataka. While one is attempting to save India, the other is busy projecting the youth of the nation. But both of them are not bothered about Karnataka,” he said.
Two women candidates likely

JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda said the party will make room for at least two women candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

While his daughter-in-law Anita Kumaraswamy is most likely to contest from Bangalore Rural constituency again, speculations are rife on the second woman candidate. Gowda said: “We can even ask Cheluvarayaswamy to field his wife. I am sure he can ensure a win.” However, it is said the party may settle for a woman candidate for Shimoga seat. Party’s Soraba MLA Madhu Bangarappa has been asked to field a candidate of his choice. And, in all probability, a woman member of his family may enter the fray.

Of course he destroyed Janata dal for his selfish motives once a solid formidable party . but As far as winning concerned Of course winning from Mangalore is doubtful, but he can win from many other places from Karnataka which he is fully capable whether its Bangalore or Mandya or Tumkur or Hassan or kanakpur or mysore and many more .He was consistent in keeping Hassan as his constituency except one or two occasions. He has never opted for other states for winning like cong did Indira Gandhi from C. Mangalore and Sonia from Bellary. I do not know contribution of these 2 congis to these constituencies which then won.

Its high time the old people should retire and make way for younger generations. Voters also should opt for younger candidates rather than older people. If they are not retiring on their own voters should make them retire without reelecting them.

For the sake of future of our Country & Karnataka state,I feel that it is high time for all our corrupt, greedy politicians, above 70 years old to take permanent retirement. As a five times MP,what is his contribution. It is better if all the youth of our Country join politics & to throw out all the useless oldies.I am sure the second woman he is looking forward to field is none other than Radhika. He is not contesting for the sixth time for the future of our country, but to pocket the salary & other perks with hefty yearly constituency allowance of Rs.5 crores.

Deve Gowdru should retire from politics else he risks the possibility of a huge defeat in JD(S) fortress of Hassan. At this age, like many Daiji commentators say, its time for social service & old age retirement home, not the uneasy dirty politics

Deve Gowdaji - please remember that in 2009 you had clearly told everywhere during the election campaign that this is your last election and hence people should vote for him. This way you aroused the sympathy of voters and won.
Now you are playing drama that you are again contesting reluctantly.

You will from Hassan, 90% I am sure. This will be only 1 seat for JDS. NATION SELLER Dongis will win 3-4 seats. NATION BUILDER BJP will win 23-24 seat.

From last 5 months prior to December, Udupi MP was telling he will start Inetrcity and Bhatkal local trains from December 1st. But from December that useless dongi has just disappeared. We people of Temple Town UDUPI and Coffee Town CHICKAMANGALURU will kick that useless fellow to Malpe beach.

And our people from DODDAMANGALURU are all set to elect ANNA BOND NALIN for the second time.
