Kundapur, Feb 6: Thieves broke into Kalikamba Temple, Katkere here late night on Wednesday February 5 and looted gold worth Rs 11.26 lac.

Sources said that on Wednesday night, two thieves entered the temple by breaking the windows at the back. The gold was kept in a vault which the thieves broke open with a gas cutter.

The vault had been inaugurated at the temple just a few days back. Gold offered to the deity by devotees during the annual feast of the temple about a fortnight back was kept in the vault.

As per a complaint filed by Karunakar Shetty, the thieves got away with 50 sovereigns of gold worth Rs 11.26 lac. However, temple committee members said that much more gold, at least 110 sovereigns worth Rs 30 lac was stolen, but added that the exact amount would be ascertained in a day.

The incident came to light in the morning when a temple priest came to perform puja. He informed the temple committee members and also the Kundapur police.

Kundapur circle inspector Divakar, SI Jayaram Gowda, fingerprint experts arrived at the spot. A canine squad from Udupi was also pressed into action.

A case has been registered in Kundapur police station.

Daring robbery, perhaps burglars were pretty sure they will find gold, deteriorating law and order situation in DK!! Surprised that the flashing caused by gas cutters in the dark night was not observed by somebody, since it would have taken a pretty good time to cut the safe!!

My sincere suggestion, maximum valuable gold and ornaments should be kept in the Bank Safe Vault.
Which can not be cut through gas welding because it is made of high-carbon steel.

The question arises whether we are so unsafe in our own country..!!
When we find the reason behind it shows the fingers towards congress government who rules for last sixty six years..not giving proper amenities to a common man.
Now nobody can able to blame anybody. They need the money..taken directly from the God.
May be, chances are more will be returned one day..either on this birth or on another..!!

    yeah toh hona hi hai..
Nobody can escape..thru his kith and kin will be recovered..

Garib kaise mohabbat kare ameeron se
Bichhad gaye hain kai raanjhe apni heeron se
Kisi ko apne muqaddar pe ikhtiyaar nahin
