Mumbai: Jayashreekrishna Samiti to host anniversary at Buntara Bhavana

Mumbai, Feb 15: Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti will be organizing celebrations in connection with the completion of 13 glorious years of service to the cause of conservation of environment and other issues relating the twin-districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, at Late Dr K Sanjeeva Shetty Dais, in honour of one of the Samiti founders, being erected at Smt Radhabai Timmappa Bhandary Hall in Kurla (East) here at 3 pm on Saturday February 22.

The Samiti has earned recognition of the people as the only non-governmental organization that has been contributing immensely to the cause of all-round development, exploring of tourism potential, conservation of rivers, integrated industrialization and economic progress of the two districts, in addition to increasing job opportunities for the youngsters from this region.

The anniversary function will be presided over by Padma Bhushan Prof B M Hegde, former vice chancellor of Manipal University and honorary president of the Samiti. MLA representing Vile Parle assembly constituency, Krishna S Hegde, will be the chief guest, while working president of The Bharat Cooperative Bank and president of Billava Federation, Jaya C Suvarna, and former president of Bhandary Federation, Kadandale Suresh S Bhandary, will be taking part as honorary guests, informed honorary treasurer of the Samiti, I R Shetty.

Founder of the Samiti, Tonse Jayakrishna A Shetty, will be delivering the keynote address. Senior statesman and former president of Bunts Sangha Mumbai, M D Shetty, who is a renowned leader revered by both Kannadigas and Tuluvas, and who has served the society in various illustrious ways, former president of Kulal Sudharaka Sangha Mumbai, P K Salian,  as well as veteran writer, Shimunje Parari, will be felicitated on behalf of the Samiti.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, a competition of cultural programmes is being arranged for various Tulu and Kannada-centric organizations functioning in the metro. Mundkoor Surendra Salian, coordinator of the competitions, said that first, second and third prizes will be awarded to the top three performers under this category. As part of cultural programmes, a Yakshagana episode, ‘Jambavati Kalyana’, will be presented by Sri Vishnumoorti Krupa Bunta Yakshakala Vedike, he added.

Honorary general secretary of Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti, Suresh Shetty Yeyyady, has extended a hearty invitation on behalf of the executive committee of the organization, office bearers and all the members,  to all the environment lovers living in Maharashtra, well-wishers hailing from coastal Karnataka, and the lovers of culture and heritage, to take part wholeheartedly in the anniversary celebrations of the Samiti, which is aiming at achieving overall progress of our homeland, conserve land, water, achieve industrialization and welfare of one and all, and thereby contribute for the tremendous success of the programme.
