Amma blesses hundreds in Mangalore, adopts Karnad village

Mangalore, Feb 15:
Hundreds of devotees including foreigners assembled at Amrita Vidyalayam campus, Boloor here on Saturday Feburary 15 to seek blessings of spiritual guru Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, fondly known as 'Amma'. She was in the city as part of ‘Brahmasthana Mahotsava’.

Former deputy commandant of the Army, lieutenant colonel Dr N S Mallik, musician Gurukiran, former MLA Yogish Bhat, journalist Manohar Prasad, Nirmala Kamath, Athmaram Ravanekar were among others who garlanded the spiritual leader.
 
Addressing the devotees, lieutenant colonel Dr N S Mallik said, “I’m inspired by the work undertaken Amma towards the betterment of society. I am a soldier of spiritual leader Amma and will walk in her footsteps. Let us follow the values of love and goodwill spread by Amma."
 
Amma handed over scholarships to 75 students on the occasion. Besides, the spiritual leader promised to adopt Karnad village of Mulky under ‘Amritha Self-reliant Villages’ programme. The organizers said that they will provide all the basic facilities including education to the villagers. It is one of the 101 villages in India being selected with the goal of helping them to establish the required infrastructure to become self-reliant role model villages for the country.
 
Besides, Amma who is also known as ‘The hugging saint’ led the bhajana, satsang and darshan.
 
Vaman Kamath, president of Mata Amrithandamayi Seva committee welcomed the gathering and briefed on the occasion.
