London, Feb 24: After the success of her first book 'Monsoon Memories' which evoked a passionate nostalgia of hometown Mangalore, UK-based author Renita D'Silva is all set to launch her second novel this month end.

'The Forgotten Daughter', published by Bookouture, will be released in the UK and the rest of the world on February 28, while in India it will be released later.

Her first book 'Monsoon Memories' published by Bookouture was released in the third week of June last year. The book was launched in Bangalore on February 15 at Sapna book store, Koramangala, amidst a good turnout.

On February 19, the book was launched in Mumbai at the NCPA, Nariman Point by renowned columnists Anil Dharker and Malavika Sangghvi. This too was a huge success. This apart, Renita has been busy with book signings at Crossword Bookstores in Mumbai and Delhi, and giving interviews to newspapers, magazines and blogs in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. The book was also featured at the recent Delhi book fair.

Born and brought up amidst the picturesque landscape of Kallianpur, Renita moved to the UK in the year 2000 after her marriage. An avid reader since childhood, her love for books was kindled by her father who supplied her with a plethora of storybooks, which ultimately led her to write stories of her own.

Her first novel 'Monsoon Memories' narrates the story of Shirin, who has been exiled from her family in India and settled in London, and who wishes to return but is constrained by certain scandalous incidents of her past. Meanwhile in Mangalore, Shirin's niece discovers a lost photograph, from where begins the 11-year-old's journey of discovery, during which untold secrets and painful trauma unfold before the reader.

Like the first, her second novel 'The Forgotten Daughter' too is set in India. It is part of the three-book contract she signed with Bookouture.
