Bangalore: Need for promoting telemedicine emphasized

Bangalore, Mar 1: Dr P Satish Chandra, director cum vice chancellor of NIMHANS, emphasized the need for giving a big push for promoting telemedicine in the country as it would increase accessibility to even the most inaccessible area to meet the health requirements of the people.
 
He was delivering his address as the chief guest at the graduation ceremony of the 21st batch of BSc nursing and 31st batch of GNM nursing as also the 22nd batch of PCBSc nursing and 16th batch of MSc nursing along with the 2nd batch of post basic diploma nursing of the St John's National Academy of Medical Sciences, which recently celebrated the golden jubilee of the St John's Medical College and Silver Jubilee year of College of Nursing.

Dr Satish Chandra appreciated the faculty of the St John’s College of Mursing, who train and mould the students.

He spoke about nursing being an noble profession with ethics and values and underscored the importance of health care.

Dr Satish Chandra stressed the need for utilization of technology in healthcare service to reduce the cost so that the service can be affordable to all in need.

The graduation ceremony of St John's College of Nursing, 21st batch of BSc nursing 31st Batch of GNM nursing, 22nd batch of PCBSc nursing 16th batch of MSc nursing and 2nd batch of post basic diploma nursing was held in Bangalore on Friday.
  
Fr Dr Lawrence D’Souza, Director of St S John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, who presided over the function, spoke about competency, character, commitment and compassion.

The event began with the Eucharistic celebration by Fr Anthony Swamy, Chancellor and PRO of the Archdiocese of Bangalore, as the main celebrant.


The following meritorious students were presented with awards for their academic achievements:

2. Academically highest marks scored by the Graduating Post Basic BSc Nursing: Simna Rose Scaria
3. Academically highest marks scored by the Graduating General Nursing & Midwifery: Shalom Bandona S.
She also gets the Archbishop Bernard Moras cash award
4. Academically highest marks scored by the Graduating Post Basic Diploma in Nursing: V Margaret
5. Academically highest marks scored by the Graduating M Sc Nursing: Greety Antony

6. The Bishop Percival Fernandez cash award for the Best All-rounder Basic BSc Nursing Graduating batch: Donatella A.
7. The Bishop Percival Fernandez cash award for the Best All-rounder Post Basic BSc Nursing Graduating batch: Maryann Thomas
