Mumbai: Dr Mohan Alva bags Rastriya Kannada Ratna Prashasti

Mumbai, Mar 6: Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alvas Education Foundation qualified to confer the prestigious Rastriya Kannada Ratna Prashasti - 2014 by Chembur Karnataka Sangh .

The Prashasti will be awarded during a function of ‘Sahitya Sahavasa’ programme that was annually organized by Chembur Karnataka Sangh at their educational institution complex, Chembur, here on Saturday March 29 at 4.30pm.

Haridas Bhat Pernankila, chief priest of Sri Ambika Adinateshwar Mahaganapati temple, Kalai village, Vidhya Vihar (West) will be the chief guest inaugurates the programme.

Chembur Karnataka Sangh  president Jaya M.Shetty will preside the programme. Bunts Sangha Mumbai president chartered accountant Shankar B. Shetty, vice president Karnire Vishwanat Shetty and Bhandary Federation past president Kadandale Suresh S Bhandary and others will confer the award to Dr Mohan Alva.

‘Y.G.Shetty Top Teacher Award’ will be conferred on Jayaraj Jain for his extraordinary contributions in Kannada studies and ‘Subbayya Shetty Endowment Award’ will be conferred to social activist S.K.Sundar, informed Chembur Karnataka Sangh  vice president advocate H.K.Sudhakar and treasurer Yogesh Gujaz.

‘Akhiyonke Jodokonse’ a musical concert by physically-challenged artistes will be presented by Sonal Production as part of cultural programme.

Suresh Poojary Irvattoor will present devotional singing programme, besides the students stage variety entertainment programmes, informed Karnataka Sangh Chembur  joint treasurer Rama Poojary.

The variety cultural shows will add flavor to mega event, stated Chembur Karnataka Sangh Hon. chief secretary Gunakar Hegde and deputy secretary T.R. Shetty in their media release.
