Mangalore, Mar 24: People from second and fifth wards of Ullal, who faced lot of problems on account of disturbances which erupted in the town last month, have collectively decided to boycott the ensuing Lok Sabha election. This decision was taken in protest against the alleged arrest of  innocent people in connection with the turmoil.

A meeting of the citizens of these wards was held at Ullal Kody on Sunday March 23. The meeting, organized under the leadership of Kody Badriya Jumma Masjid president, Muhammed Ashraf, secretary, Abdullatif, former president, Muhammed Haji, Dargah Committee members, Rafique, Basheer Haji, U K Muhammed and several local leaders, had a participation of about 500, most of them youngsters.

The participants of the meeting noted that Hindus and Muslims have been enjoying harmonious coexistence in Ullal since times immemorial. They unanimously agreed that the unsavoury incidents of the last month had been caused by some anti-social elements, but objected to the police action in arresting innocent youth.

“The police barged into houses, behaved indecently with the women, took away innocent youngsters, and booked them under section 307 if Indian Penal Code. These youth have been dispatched to Bellary jail, and no peoples’ representatives came forward to help them. Therefore, we have to teach these leaders a lesson by abstaining from voting,” the people demanded.

In his address, Kody mosque president, Muhammed Ashraf, noted that a wedge has been created between the Mogaveeras (fishermen community) and Muslims living in the town because of these incidents. He said that innocent people from both these communities had been made scapegoats for the mischief committed by some trouble makers. “The police had asked the leaders of the communities to catch hold of, and hand over to them, the culprits, and this fact had been brought to the notice of peoples’ representatives,” he revealed.

Entrepreneur, Rahim, asked the people not to get lured by money or other enticements the concerned might offer, and back the decision to boycott the election collectively. A number of other leaders like Abdul Aziz and Fayaz also addressed the gathering.  Two councilors representing these wards, Ashraf Bava, and Kunhimonu, also came on the scene and pledged their support to finding a lasting solution to the problem. They fell short of making concrete promises, as they said, they were bound by election code of conduct.

It is always better to keep away from trouble and remain innocent than claim to be innocent after causing trouble. For patents all of their children are innocent even if they commit murder or rape!

This is exactly what the people who instigated the riots wanted. Every religious riot always acted in favor of BJP. The countless riots post Babri demolition is the cruel evidence to that fact. RSS knows the only way to unite hinud's behind BJP is to orchestrate a riot. They have a systematic plan, feed people with false information. This develops a silent anger within the community against the other. Then, whenever there is a small incidence, all such anger turns into violence.
It is not that the minority community is all that saints and sinless. There are people who intentionally try to give fodder to such malice. End of the day one indian losses and other too looses, the gainer is a political party. Such a irony. As long as BJP politically gains from riots, there will not be a end to it. A boycott of the poll, is something that they want. Just to remind in Muzafar Nagar, after the riots, BJP MP is demanding no voting right for the displaced people. Time to Dimak Ki Batti Jalao.

Dilemma, whom to Vote in 2014? It is a India crazy political circus that we’ve become part of. Congress as well as BJP are too deep into corruption. While, Congress focuses of temporary minority appeasement and BJP carries on with its hardline agenda, Now People Dilemma is reinforced. The caste based politics in Karnataka is killing everyone. They can’t think now even to go for voting, because of dirty Politics...

Congress knows very well that without creating any Insecure situation to its vote bank, they cannot polarize their votes. This has been proved in Babri Masjid, in Gujrath & in Muzaffarnagar also. They want trouble makers to be active in the society so that they can use them when needed, then blame it on the opposition and fool their votebank again. We do not consider BJP as our savior nor do we support the reservation politics of Congress.
If any sane person may think from their brain, BJP is not gaining anything by throwing stones at places of Worship of Christians or Muslims, instead it does more harm for the party itself. We all feel sad with these incidents, hoping this shouldn’t have happened. Assuming all the trouble mongers like HJV, BD, SRS, PFI , DYFI etc are the friends of BJP, If Congress wanted they would have stopped Babri Masjid demolition, they can Ban BD SRS or any other trouble makers when they are in power, but they wont. Even though I am anti congress, I have members in my family who are workers of congress, supporters of BJP candidates in some constituency and some in Janatha Dhal also(not for Devegowda). All these votes are based on the person & not the party. Hindhus never feel proud of any party if they attack other communities nor do we polarize our votes for hurting other community. This has been proved in all the elections in the past & if Hindhu votes were united like others , we wouldn’t have allowed for congress to be in power. Its only the other communities who always stand by congress irrespective of whom they field, & to some extent congress has been successful in polarizing these votes. I hope people wake up this time.

Good analysis, hope some sane mind will understand this..in DK & UDUPI, BJP has won almost all constituencies and came to power..but in the recent elections, BJP swept away..It is very clear that minorities never vote for BJP..but how could BJP win or lose while minorities vote only for Congress?..actually it is so called majorities who vote sensibly & responsibly without attaching to a party or leader..in DK except Ullal, minorities cannot decide the fate of a candidate..Congress has very clever mind on polarising votes..

Muhammed, do you know Khader even supported YETTINAHOLE project!!..the election boycott decision will not change anything..In western countries (even in small country Maldives) there is minimum % of vote a candidate has to get to win..But we dont have such policy..even if 10thsnd didnt vote, rest will vote & election will conclude..now we have NOTA option but it is toothless..instead of visiting poll booth & pressing NOTA, one can sit in home & enjoy movie!!.It is in the Interest of the local community to keep away young one from anti social elements, contribute/participate in each others religious & social function, Rich member of the society help the needy irrespective of caste/creed/religion..this will bond the society..not the political affiliation..
