Mangalore, Jun 11: Residents of the Moodshed village near Pilikula Nisargadama made a representation to district in-charge Minister B Nagaraj Shetty and have complained that the tourism development at Pilikula was affected over 14,000 residents of the neighbouring places.

On Friday, Jun 9 the general council meeting of Pilikula Nisargadhama Committee was planned by the Nisargadhama administration. The minister who was to participate in the meting was gheraoed by over 500 residents who alleged that the development of Pilikula had meted injustice to them.

Bringing various instances of injustice, a memorandum was submitted by gram panchayat president Shivram Malli.

Malli said that though they had made several pleas to the authorities, it did not yield any response. He said that several building had been constructed in the area without permission from the gram panchayat. They have not even paid the taxes. Closure of roads, isolation of families, drinking water problems etc have cropped up due to the tourism project.

The minister who responded to this instructed the issue to be discussed first during the meeting. It was for the first time that the people were given a chance to bring out their agony towards the administration.

Nagaraj Shetty assured of prompt action and a committee was also formed to study the impact and suggest necessary steps.
