New Zealand, Kerala sign trade agreement

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 6 (IANS): Group of Technology Companies (GTech), a Kerala industry body, and India-New Zealand Business Council have signed an agreement to promote trade in next two years, a statement said Thursday.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Mumbai during the visit of a New Zealand trade delegation led by Industries Minister Nathan Guy.

The MoU aims to identify common goals and strategic objectives through exchanges in business development, creative and technical collaboration in IT (information technology) and non-IT sectors.

"The MoU with GTech in the ICT sector is significant and the mutual visit would strengthen the ties," said Guy.

A delegation of CEOs of 13 IT companies from Kerala had visited New Zealand in August this year.

This was organised as a part of Global IT Connect, an initiative conceived by GTech for the Kerala government to connect the IT industry in Kerala with the global markets.
