Mangaluru, Dec 10: Former union minister, Janardhan Poojary has demanded for invoking provisions of Goonda Act against those who give call for bandhs and deliver inflammatory speeches. He also asked the government to take stern steps against people who pelt stones at the police.

Speaking to media persons in the city on Tuesday December 9, he said that the way Hindu outfits behaved during unpleasant incidents at Ulaibettu and Vamanjoor had left lot to be desired. He felt that calling for bandh is illegal and hence such persons should be arrested. He also demanded for invocation of Goonda Act against those who deliver inflammatory addresses.

Poojary said that vested interests are out to create a sense of fear among the people living in the coast, duly observing that the state government has failed to prove that it is in control of law and order in the state. He called upon the chief minister to firmly handle disturbing incidents happening in Karnataka.

Poojary also said that the prime minister, who is chanting development mantra, should keep his words and make sure that communal disturbances do not take place in the country. 'Members of Modi's ministry are delivering addresses which have the potential to disturb communal harmony. The prime minister claims to clean up India, but his ministry has members involved with criminal cases,' he pointed out.

On a question about whether the coastal districts have got fair share in appointments to boards and corporations, he said he will give his response on the issue after three months.
