City Police take up awareness campaign as part of Crime Prevention Month

Kundapur, Dec 23: Assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of the police subdivision here, Annamalai, said that the police department has been taking preemptive action to stop crimes from happening, and also acting promptly and effectively to bring the culprits to book whenever crime occurs.

He was addressing the participants of a vehicular jatha that was organized for spreading awareness, after inaugurating it on Monday December 22 evening. The rally had been organized as part of crime prevention month being observed by the police department in association with R N Shetty PU College and St Mary's PU College.

'The number of crimes come down when the general public has awareness about them. The department of police observes crime prevention month during December every year to spread awareness on this important issue. Various programmes are being organized by the local subdivision of the department to spread knowledge and awareness about crimes among the people and the students alike, between December 23 and 31 like harmony meetings between the people and police officers, exhibition of documentary films, cartoon festival and information workshop,' he explained.

Principal of R N Shetty PU College, Naveen Kumar Shetty, and St Mary's PU College principal, Praveen Amrit Martin, took part in the programme as guests. Local circle inspector, P M Diwakar, station house officer, Nassir Hussain, and station house officer of women's police station, Sujatha Salian, were present.

After the programme, which was held at Shastri Circle here, policemen, students and members of the public went in a procession through the streets of the town.
