PSV Eindhoven ousted from Dutch Cup

The Hague, Jan 21 (IANS): Dutch football club PSV Eindhoven were eliminated 2-3 from the last 16 of the KNVB Beker Cup by second division side Roda JC Kerkrade, after extra time.

PSV coach Phillip Cocu had rested some of his regular players, like Karim Rekik, Adam Maher, Santiago Arias and goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet, but their replacements did not impress Tuesday.

Tom Van Hyfte gave the home-team an early lead but PSV striker Luuk de Jong equalised. In the 74th minute Roda took the lead again through Edwin Gyasi but once again Jong levelled.

The match went into extra-time in which Hicham Faik put Roda in front again with a beautifully curled free-kick to put the match beyond PSV.

Roda will now face Excelsior in the quarter-finals of the Dutch Cup next week.
