Tennis: Double crown for Kirtane

Bengaluru, March 13 (IANS): It was double-delight for top seed Nitten Kirtane of Maharashtra as he lifted the men's singles title with a facile 6-2, 6-1 victory over the second seed and his doubles partner Vinod Sridhar of Tamil Nadu in the final of the CRS Trust-AITA prize money tennis tournament here on Friday.

The final turned out to be one-sided as Kirtane, who had won the doubles title Thursday, broke Sridhar in the second and eighth games to take the first set.

Kirtane jumped to a 5-0 lead in the second while Sridhar looked out of sorts, and before long, the Maharashtra veteran had pouched the set and match.
