Mangalore, Feb 10: Prajna De-addiction centre which was functioning in Vailankani Ward in Fr Muller Hospital here has now been shifted to new premises in "Babylon House” at Ujjodi recently.

The new block of the Prajna De-addiction centre was jointly-inaugurated by deputy commissioner Maheshwar Rao and MLA N Yogish Bhat on Saturday February 10 morning.  District-in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty  and deputy director of  women and children's department Gertrude Veigas were also present on the occasion.

Prajna Counselling Centre director Prof Hilda Rayappan, former ZP president Gokuldas Shetty, counsellors and office staff of de-addiction centre were also present.

The de-addiction centre is run under the project of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment of Government of India, New Delhi.  Right now there are 35 inmates who are being treated.  The organization also provides counselling, de-addiction camps, recreational gatherings etc from time-to-time. 

Livelihood Resource Centre Inaugurated:

Livelihood Resource Centre organized by Prajna Counselling Centre, CCF Unit of Mangalore and CAP Foundation, Hyderabad was inaugurated at Prajna Counselling Centre here on Saturday February 10 morning.

District-in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty inaugurated the centre.  In his inaugural address he hailed the efforts of Prajna Counselling centre in general and director Prof Hilda Rayappan in empowering the society.  He commended them for their yeoman's service towards women, children and even rural youth.

ZP president Sushma Janardhan, deputy director of  women and children's department Gertrude Veigas, MLA N Yogish Bhat, corporator Lancy Serrao, director Prof Hilda Rayappan, trustees Celine Pereira Maria P D'Costa were also graced the occasion.

Prajna Counselling Centre has been rendering its service in the field of women's empowerment, child labour, family and therapeutic counselling under the leadership of Prof Hilda Rayappan.  With the guidance and support of trustees, dedicated professional staff, the centre has been in the forefront social empowerment.
