Mangalore, Feb 20: The Bobba Power Project at Taccode, Moodbidri near here is under the scanner with the Parisara Ulisi Horata Samithi alleging that the plant has caused pollution in the surrounding areas.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday February 19, Samiti president Vinod Pinto said that the nearly 500 workers involved in the project have not been provided with basic facilities by the company. This has resulted in the pollution of the Phalguni river, across which the hydel power project is being constructed.
The company however has not responded positively to the complaints, he said.
A peaceful protest at the project site will be held on Tuesday February 20, he added.
Present at the meet were committee honorary president E A D’Souza and secretary Maxim Tauro.
