Mangalore, Feb 21: The Mangalore Railway Development Action Committee which has been fighting for the cause of Mangalore railway development, will stage a two – hour protest in front of the railway station here, on Friday February 23.  The aim of the protest is to pressurize the government and the railway authorities to speed up the action to meet the various demand of the region.

This was addressed by Mangalore Railway Development Action Committee convener Nazir Ullal, at a press meet held here on Wednesday February 21.

      Following are the immediate demands :

  • Setting up a separate railway zone for the city
  • Starting Mangalore – Bangalore rail

      Other demands :

  • Full – fledged renovation of Mangalore Railway Station
  • Start the doubling work from the city to Shornur
  • Create more ticket booking counters
  • Fill up the vacancies at the city’s station
