Mangaluru, Apr 1: Two school-going teenagers lost their lives in a scooter accident on the night of Tuesday, March 31.

Tameem and Zakir, both aged 14, are the deceased boys.

They were students of 8th standard at Al Madina School in Manjanady.

The accident took place at Montepadav under Konaje police limits on Tuesday night. Tameem, who was not eligible to hold licence, was riding Honda Activa scooter belonging to his father while Zakir was riding pillion. They were proceeding to Manjanady from Montepadav.

Tameem lost control of the scooter and it fell into a ditch next to the road. He breathed his last on the spot while Zakir was rushed to the hospital.

Zakir succumbed to injuries on Wednesday April 1.

Konaje police have registered the case.

Honda activa has no safety standards at all. Anyway a two wheeler now needs to be banned completely as riding this vehicle needs balance. Rather 2 wheeler companies should look at inventing a 3 wheeler with maximum safety standards.

I think it is valid to ask for a case of Murder against the owner of this vehicle. It is every Parents and Vehicle Owners responsibility to not let Minors use their Vehicle.

    People,

Having licence does`nt mean that a person will drive safely. So i really cant blame parents. I have been driving on road since i was 13. I was involved in an accident when i was 26. I know people with license who dont know how to drive. they are danger to themselves and to others on road. Around 99% of the drivers on road dont follow the rules.

Sorry to here that. As many comments state Its parents job to guide their children. In B. c Road Kaikamba there are many near misses because of not following traffic Rules. In many cases minors without licence are on ride or drive.

Now that its holidays for children, these growing up kids, maybe can say just coming out of their shells are enjoying these kind of rides and their parents i suppose will approve, because they want to get rid of them at home at least for sometime. I see so many of them in the heart of mangalore city and its very scary for the commuters on the road. The police force should take note of it immediately.

The person in whose name this scooter is needs to be arrested immediately. They should know that the minors without licence are not allowed to ride vehicles on roads. They are endangering lives of others. Therefore the owner of the scooter should be tried for and made responsible for the death of these children.

Sad to read the incident report. Handsome boys lost their life for nothing. But the good part of this is that they could have killed the innocent Public with their Horse Play Without licence. There are many like these boys around suburbs of Mangalore. There are few riding on Neermarga - Volachil Road. One of them may become accident case soon.

There are two school boys riding scooters up and down Balikashrama Road, Kankanady at top speed and zig zag between 5 - 7 pm daily. I wish the traffic police ( in plain clothes ) intercept them and seize their scooters.

It is really dangerous especially to pedestrians walking on Balikashrama road, Kankanady.

    sad....lost for what...destiny? RIP.
During our childhood in villages, not only family but whole villagers were used to warn/ stop kids if at all using cycle or anything on road which who are not eligible & found risky- now realize just to protect the kids.
But in modern & city life no one is there to advise to anyone. It is social responsibility too make awareness and not only law wise....

May these young souls Rest in Peace. I feel sorry for their parents as it's a huge loss for them. These young children have no speed limits when they ride two wheelers we notice. !
We observe so many youth, many of whom could be minors without a valid licence n also without a helmet riding vehicles rashly & at high speed. This should be curbed I think.

Sad indeed. Parents must take the responsibility of their child till the child attains 18 years as per Indian law. Accidents by children driving vehicle do occur quite frequently as they get excited while driving with friends.

    RIP to the two teenagers.

The Two Wheeler which few years ago was touted as a family transport system is today a reason why many young lives are lost everyday on the Indian roads.

PARENTS take care of your children, a two wheeler in the hands of children from age 10 to 30 is a toy and you cannot afford to toy around on our Indian roads with your lives.

If parents take the time to read obituaries on daily newspapers you will find reported there, at least one death of a youngster due to two wheeler accident.

At the rate young boys and men are dying from two wheeler accidents, within one or two decades we will witness a dwindling population of middle aged men.

Too many speed breaker humps on the road and no sign boards. Sign boards need to be installed , so that rider will come to know the hurdle ahead in advance. People put speed breaker but forget to install sign boards.

    I fully agree with you.

Parents working in Gulf give money and vehicle to their children living in India and these children misuse the same.

Further, Police have to take strict action against erring auto drivers, over speeding and rude city bus drivers as also using mobile while driving.

Wearing seat belt within city limits does not make much difference.

Harassing small people diverts focus on bigger crimes.
