Dutch healthcare officials visit Gulf Medical University

Ajman, Apr 22: Delegates from Health Holland visited Gulf Medical University campus to explore possibilities for joint collaborative activities, here on Wednesday, April 22.

A high level delegation led by vice minister for the Dutch Ministry Economic Affairs, Maarten Camps and Director-General Enterprise and Innovation Bertholt Leeftink discussed about joint cooperation for research, collaborative medical degree programme, Summer Training programme and development of short term courses with the academic leadership of Gulf Medical University, Prof Gita Ashok Raj.

The delegation was briefed about the academic programmes and activities of the university through a presentation and was later taken on a tour of the campus. The delegate appraised the facilities and services on offer. The delegates have expressed high appreciation for the research activities being undertaken by the university. Later, they met the founder president, Board of Governors Thumbay Moideen. They mentioned that the team would work out more details of collaboration and set further dialogue about joint activities and collaboration both in education and healthcare services. Moideen has assured the delegation of his fullest support in all the joint endeavors.

Jos Wetzels, director of Business Development, City of Maastricht Health Campus, Dr Thijs Spigt, director Technology Transfer Office, Erasmus University Medical Center, City of Rotterdam, Dr Paul Bilars, managing director Internal Medicine Division and Cardiovascular Research, Leiden University Medical Center, Jan Sikkema, Director Center for Development and Innovation, University Medical centre, City of Groningen were part of delegation.

The delegation was assisted by Prof Dr Jan Raaijmakers from the Top Sector of Life Sciences & Health at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Niels van Leeuwen, Liaison Officer Life Science & Health and Daphne Dernison, Senior Advisor Bilateral Relations as a representative of the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport.
