Mangalore, Mar 30:  Al-Haj K P Abdul Jabbar Musliyar, the newly-appointed Khazi of the city was accorded a warm welcome by devotees on Thursday March 29.  

He was later felicitated by the managing committee of Zeenath Baksh in mosque here.

The felicitation programme was presided over by Atavulla Tanhal of Manjeshwar.  Speaking on the occasion said that only those who are committed and sincere to Shariat can be a good Khazi.  "I am sure that K P Abdul Jabbar Musliyar is capable and he deserves this honour," he said.

Ziffri Tanhal of Madikeri inaugurated the programme and wished all that is best to the new assistant Khazi.

Mohammad Kunji, Musliyar, khateeb of Badriya Jumma Masjid, businessman Thumbe Ahmad Haji, former mayor K Ashraf, S B Darimi, Central Committee Ahmad Jamal and others were present on the occasion.

N K Abubakkar welcomed the gathering while Mohammad Tanzim recited the Quran.  Hanif Haji proposed the vote of thanks and Suleiman compered the programme.

Earlier newly-appointed Khazi was brought on a procession from K S Rao Road to Juma Masjid.  The duff students were a special attraction of the procession.
