Bengaluru, May 28: After its decision to order a CBI probe into the multi-crore single digit lottery scam, the Siddaramaiah regime has formally written to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to conduct a probe into the multi-crore single digit lottery scam,

The multi-crore single digit lottery scam, which has the involvement of high ranking police officers and possibly political links, has already created a flutter in the political and bureaucratic circles after the Congress government decided to ask the CBI to conduct investigation.

However, the State Government has not fixed any time frame to conduct the probe.

Apparently, the Siddaramaiah regime is vary of setting any time frame for completing the probe after its bitter experience in asking the CBI to complete the investigation into the alleged suicide of IAS officer D K Ravi with the investigating agency informing the government that it cannot work in a fixed time frame.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said he has already written to the CBI seeking it to probe into the lottery scam.

The Central agency would be asked to probe the case starting from 2007, the year the single digit lottery was banned in the State, the chief minister told reporters.

Asked about JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy meeting with Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala and handing over documents related to lottery scam to him, Siddaramaiah said the Governor was not the probing agency.

"If he (Kumaraswamy) has any documents, let him give to the CBI," the Chief Minister said.

Siddaramaiah also pointed out that he cannot prevent anybody from meeting the State Governor or the Raj Bhavan entertaining leaders of opposition parties.
