New fitness app lets you compete with others

New York, May 30 (IANS): A new fitness app can give your workout schedule a real edge as it lets you compete with friends who use different fitness trackers.

If all your friends use fitness trackers different from yours, you can match your steps with the rest of the group.

"The online platform 'Matchup' lets users of different fitness trackers -- including Fitbit, Jawbone and Withings -- compete against each other in the same place, launched its free mobile app for iPhone this week," reported The Observer.

Matchup's web platform already has more than 20,000 users.

"It is rare that an entire group of friends, family, or co-workers share the same devices," Matchup cofounder John Contreras was quoted as saying.

"With Matchup, we create an opportunity for a group of users with various devices to connect and join challenges together."

The app offers a variety of ways for users to compete with each other.

"This transparency makes it easy for users to support each other with nudges in case someone is beginning to fall into sedentary patterns, Contreras said.
