Udupi, Apr 14: The issue of misappropriation of funds in the buffalo distribution scheme in Kundapur taluk dominated the general body meeting of zilla panchayat held here on Friday April 13.
Member Raju Poojary raised the issue and said that the lapse of Rs 8 lac was the result of negligence on the part of the assistant director of agriculture of Kundapur taluk.
ZP chief executive officer P Hemalatha said that though the procedure of implementing the scheme had been followed step-by-step, the assistant director failed in his duty to collect the names of beneficiaries from the MLA, which had resulted in the lapse. She promised that appropriate action would be taken in this regard.
ZP president B N Shankar Poojary, vice-president Sharada Bijur and others were present.
