Puttur, Jun 4:  Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal (BD) have decided to hold protest on Thursday June 3 against the decision of the state cabinet to withdraw cases pending against over 1,600 activists of Popular Front of India (PFI) and Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD). These activists had been booked in over 130 cases involving communal disturbances at different places like Mysuru, Shivamogga, and Hassan.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, BD south Karnataka province convener, Sharan Pumpwell, criticized the decision of the state government led by Siddarmaiah to withdraw cases against persons who raised slogans in favour of Pakistan at Shivamogga, abduction of students in Hunsur, attacking policemen in Mysuru etc. He demanded resignation of the chief minister.

He alleged that the state government is neglecting information received from the union home ministry about involvement of certain persons with terrorism activities. He accused the government of undermining the morale of policemen. He charged Janardhana Poojary of recently saying that Hindus eat beef, and issuing such statements often throughout his political life. He said that Hindus worship cows as their mother, and do not eat beef.

Goraksha Pramukh, Dinesh Pai, demanded arrest of people who had stolen cows from the cowshed belonging to Southadka temple. He asked the state home minister to own moral responsibility for this incident.

VHP leaders, Deekaih Pervody and convener, Bhaskar Dharmasthala, were present.
