Congress suspends party's former Andhra chief


Hyderabad, June 5 (IANS): The Congress party has suspended former president of the party's Andhra Pradesh unit Botsa Satyanarayana, who plans to join the YSR Congress party on Sunday.

The central Congress leadership conveyed its decision to Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief N. Raghuveera Reddy on Friday.

Botsa, former Andhra Pradesh minister and former member of parliament, is a key leader from north coastal Andhra. He was the last president of the party in undivided Andhra Pradesh.

The party suspended him as he along with several party leaders and followers from the region is set to join the YSR Congress party on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Raghuveera Reddy told reporters in Visakhapatnam that Botsa was suspended for indulging in anti-party activities.

He said if a few leaders leave the party, it will have no impact on the organisation. He said the party would not tolerate any anti-party activity.
