Laussane (Switzerland), June 8 (IANS): The International Olympic Committee (IOC)'s executive board meeting has begun ahead of crucial presentations from the candidate cities bidding for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

The 15 members of the board, including president Thomas Bach and one of the four vice presidents Yu Zaiqing of China, received reports from summer and winter international federations, national Olympic committees, athletes and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), as well as reports on PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games and Youth Olympic Games of Nanjing 2014, Lillehammer 2016 and Buenos Aires 2018 on Sunday, reports Xinhua.

More topics are expected to be discussed regarding the activities of the IOC commissions, those of co-ordination commissions and the organising committees of Olympic Games of Tokyo 2020 and Rio 2016, in addition to updates on the activities of the IOC administration.

The 2022 candidate cities, Beijing and Almaty, will brief the IOC memebers at the Olympic Museum here on Tuesday before each city welcomes the IOC members in their seperate showroom by displaying models, bid videos and answering questions.

It is set to give the candidate city opportunities to present their bidding project prior to the election, which takes place during the 128th IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur on July 31.
