Mangalore, Apr 20: “The ideologies of Basavanna are to be imbibed. Younger generation should adopt his thoughts in life,” said B Nagaraj Shetty, district in-charge-minister.

He was speaking at the ‘Basava Jayanti’ programme organized by D K district administration, Kannada and Culture department and Karavali Veerashaiva Kshemabbhivruddi Sangha at Town Hall here Friday April 20 evening.

Basava Jayanti is not so familiar in ‘Tulu Nadu’. One should take initiatives to popularize this event here, he advised.

Addressing the gathering ZP president Sushma Janardan said that by implementing the thoughts of Basavanna, changes could be achieved in the society.

MLA Yogish Bhat presided over the function. Shree Girisiddeshwara Swamiji of Basavanagudi Math, Shree Revannasiddeshwara Swamiji of Hiremath- Tumkur, district commissioner M Maheshwar Rao, Pradeepkumar Kalkura, president, district chapter of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Udaykumar Yaragatti, professor of NITK Suratkal, D V Katyayini, principal of Dr M V Shetty Institute of Health Sciences and many others were present on this occasion.
