Udupi, Apr 20: Yakshagana Academy will be opened within a month, said Dr V S Acharya, district in-charge minister.

He was speaking at the inauguration of ‘Janapada Jatre’ at Malpe beach on Thursday April 19.

Some are demanding to open it at Bangalore and some are demanding it in Udupi. Any thing it may be, Yakshagana Academy will come into existence within a month, he assured. ‘Theme park’ to be opened at Karkala to study about Koti-Chennayas, he added.

ZP president N Shankar Poojari presided over the function. Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, ZP vice-president, Sharada Bijur, DC V Ponnuraj, SP Dr Subrahmaneshwar Rao, Tulu Sahitya Academy president Sitaram Kulal, folklore scholar S A Krishnayya, and S R Dalavai, deputy director of Kannada and Cultural Department were the chief guests on the occasion.

K Muralidhar welcomed the gathering. Kuradi Sitaram Shetty proposed vote of thanks. Udyavar Nageshkumar compered the programme.
