Women's World Cup: Australia beat Nigeria 2-0


Winnipeg (Canada), June 13 (IANS): Kyah Simon scored twice to lift Australia over Nigeria 2-0 at the women's World Cup football tournament.

Following an opening 1-3 defeat to the United States, Australia recorded its first win in Group D as the 23-year-old Simon found the net at the 29th and 68th minutes on Friday, reports Xinhua.

Nigeria drew 3-3 in its first match against Sweden.

Australia's next opponent will be Sweden while Nigeria face the United States on Tuesday.
