Beltangady, Apr 26: A minor accident which did not result in any casualties however led to group clashes and resulted in 15 persons sustaining injuries has been reported from Guruvayankere near here on Wednesday April 25 night.

One person was even stabbed by the mob while 15 others including 5 women and two children were injured and were admitted to hospital on Wednesday.

One Abdul Salim of Uppinangady and his family members were on their way to Kajoor on Maruti Omni.  When they reached Panejalu near Guruvayankere Abdul Salim suddenly applied brakes in order to avoid a possible collision with a bus which was ahead.  At this point a bike coming from behind rammed into the car.

This gave way to heated argument between those who were in the car and bikers.  But soon a few young men playing volleyball in the close vicinity joined the bikers.  One of them even stabbed Abdul Salim while one Varun Prakash too was injured in the clashes.  Some of the youth even tried to assault children and women who were in the car.  It has been accused that ornaments of those who were in the car have been stolen.

As of now 15 people have been admitted to government hospital here.  They have been identified as Mymuna (45), Kousar (18), Sajida (2), Abdul Salim (23), Zainabi (40), Riyaz (20), Afsali (22), Aftaz (2) Saroof (23), Iqbal (22), Latif (24) and Hasainar (39).

A complaint has been filed on Sanjeev Moolya,  Sathish, Shekhar, Anand Shetty, Dinesh, Poovappa and others.  Though the incident paved way for tension, owing to timely intervention of police it was brought under control.
