Mangalore, Apr 30: Rachaiah, senior leader of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), died at a private hospital here on Saturday. He was 50.

Mr. Rachaiah was ailing for some time and was undergoing treatment at the hospital.

A native of Gulbarga, Mr. Rachaiah was a full-time member of the BMS for the past 20 years. He served in various capacities in the organisation at the State and district level.

The Dakshina Kannada district committee of BJP has mourned the death of Mr. Rachaiah. In a press release issued here on Sunday, president of the district unit K. Monappa Bhandary said the death of Mr. Rachaiah had left a big void in the labour movement in the district. The office-bearers of the committee, party MLAs and State president of BJP D.V. Sadananda Gowda have condoled his death.
