Beltangady, Apr 30: A group of 5 Infosys employees from Bangalore who had gone missing in the deep forests near Bandaje here were traced in the midnight on Sunday April 29.  They had gone on Sunday afternoon and the Beltangady police with the help of locals, Anti-Naxal Force and Forest Department managed to trace them in the thick forests.

Infosys Bangalore employees, Vinay, Sunil, Ashwin, Manoj Kumar and Sharma had come to view famous Bandaje falls near here on Sunday.  They had started on Saturday April 28 night from Bangalore and reached Kadirudyavara near here via Charmadi on Sunday morning.

After reaching Kadirudyavara, they parked their car in one Valambra Narayana Gowda’s house before leaving to Bandaje falls which is about 12 kilometres away from there. However, on their way back they missed the route and were caught in the forest.

Having no other way to come out, they called their relatives back in Bangalore on their mobile phones and explained them that they had missed their way.  Moreover all the food stuff and water they had carried along them too had finished and they had nothing to eat or drink with them. 

Their relatives immediately alerted the Beltangady police in this regard.  The police led by SI Ramakrishna and circle inspector Gangi Reddy with the help of Anti-Naxal Force started search operations at about 9 pm with powerful search lights in their hands.

However, owing to poor connectivity on their mobiles, the youth could not be contacted for long.  But the police kept up their efforts and were finally rewarded after midnight when the network was restored.  By the time they were traced in the dense forest, the youth had completely drained and ran out of energy.  They were immediately attended by the police.

It is said that the travelers had no idea about the Bandaje falls other than a few lines they came across while surfing.  They had not even sought the help of guide which finally ended in their losing their way.
