Hulk secures Brazil 1-0 win against Costa Rica in friendly

Harrison (New Jersey), Sep 6 (IANS): Forward Hulk scored to help Brazil beat Costa Rica 1-0 in a World Cup qualifying practice match here.

Hulk scored in the 10th minute for the five-time world champions on Saturday.

Brazil were the better team throughout the match.

Costa Rica were defensive for the majority of the match and looked to stifle brazil's attack by employing five defenders, occasionally going forward on counter attacks.

Brazil coach Dunga began without some of the regulars even resting the team's attacking spearhead Neymar and veteran Kaka.

He introduced the duo in the 82nd and the 67th minute, respectively, much to the delight of the crowd at the Red Bull Arena.

Brazil took the lead when Hulk and negotiated Costa Rican defender Giancarlo Gonzalez challenge to put a left-footed shot past goalkeeper Patrick Pemberton.

Brazil will next face the United States on Tuesday in Foxborough, Massachusetts, in its two-game friendly match tour of America.

Costa Rica will face Uruguay on Tuesday in San Jose.
