Book Awards 2006: Two books have been selected for the ‘Book Awards 2006’, an award which is being given by the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy. It carries a cash prize of Rs. 5,000, a memento and a certificate. 

Naveenkumar’s ‘Maime’(drama) by Kadri Navaneetha Shetty and ‘Kattalininda’(research)  are the two award winning works.

The books were selected for the award during the all-members’ meeting of the Academy held on June 30 and will be presented at a function to be held in August, stated the press release.

Karavali College gets 100% results: Karavali College, Mangalore secured 100% results in the final BCA examination held by the Mangalore University during May 2007, as per the press release from the college.

Karnataka bank CPC: A Central Processing Centre (CPC) was opened by Karnataka bank for processing forex transactions on Thursday, 18 July at Kodialbail building.

The centre was inaugurated by chairman Ananthakrishna which will help the bank to remote process Forex trade finance transaction at remote location using imaging technology as per the press release. 

According to the chairman this CPC will enable the bank to process forex transactions of those branches at a central location and thereby provide efficient services to the forex clients across the country. As well as access more such clients through increased number of designated branches nationwide.

Drama Show: A drama show will be organized by Sandesha Lalitakala Mahavidyalaya today at the Sandesha Kala Bhavan according to a press release.

The said play is written by Shankar Shesh, and directed by Sadananda Suvarna.

Book on maths and statistics released: A function for releasing the said text book “Business Statistics and Mathematics” will be held on July 21. The function will be organized by the Mangalore University Commerce Teacher’s Association and the faculty of Commerce Canara College.

The book is written by B V Raghunandan, Prof. SVS College Bantwal taluk. This book will be released by Linda Christie joint director of Collegiate Education, Mangalore region.

Mahila Okkoota programme: Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy in association with Mangalore taluk “Mahila Mandalagala Okkoota” will be organizing “Atidonje Koota” a programme on July 21.

The programme will be inaugurated by Sushma Janardhan, president of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat as per the press release statement.
