Mangalore, Jul 20: “The Karnataka State Revenue Department Village Assistants Association has welcomed the move of the state government of regularizing the services of 10,000 village assistants, since they were serving on contract basis for the past 29 years”, said association state honorary president Janardhan Bantwal, at a press meet here on Friday, July 20.

This step taken by the state government has shown the human face of the government, whereas the other state governments that have reigned in the past neglected the village assistants thereby continuing the tradition of assistants on contract basis.

Moreover, the association has decided to congratulate the chief minister, deputy chief minister and all the ministers involved directly or indirectly in bringing out the order favorable to 10,000 village assistants, in this regard.

The union also urged the state government to review the pay scale and fix at least "D" grade pay scale.

Chidananda, district honorary president, M Krishnappa Poojari, district chief secretary were present at the press conference.
